CVICU Registered Nurse - Metairie, LA

An opportunity for a Registered Nurse skilled in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) nursing is available within a leading healthcare facility located in Metairie, LA. This position is a contract role offering a dynamic clinical environment focused on advanced cardiac care and critical illness management. Key responsibilities include managing complex cardiac patients with a 1:2 patient-to-nurse ratio, occasionally extending to 1:3 based on patient acuity. Nurses will provide comprehensive care including lab blood draws, EKGs, and line insertions, while utilizing specialized equipment such as Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA pumps, Servo I ventilators, Fresenius CRRT Dialysis machines, and Edwards Lifesciences cardiac monitors. This position requires a readiness to float across all ICUs, with potential shifts in the Emergency Department or Post Anesthesia Care Unit and occasionally on medical-surgical or progressive care units. Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of ICU experience, with preference given for CVICU experience, and demonstrate proficiency in Epic electronic health records. Experience with Impella and CRRT/NXSTage devices are mandatory. Essential certifications include ACLS, BLS, CPI (or willingness to obtain at the facility), and NIH. Night shifts consist of three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), with four weekend shifts required every four weeks. There is no on-call responsibility. The facility maintains strict infection control protocols due to ongoing Covid-19 patient care.
