An opportunity for experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to make a significant impact in a specialized stepdown care setting awaits. This contract position offers the chance to work in a dynamic 30-bed unit focused on neuro/neurosurgical, cardiac, renal, and med/surg patients, providing comprehensive care to a diverse adult and geriatric population. This role requires dedication to patient-centered care and the ability to manage complex medical conditions with precision and compassion. Responsibilities: Conduct thorough patient assessments, create and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate treatment outcomes. Administer medications safely and expertly, including IV blood pressure meds and drips such as Heparin. Care for patients with neuro and cardiac conditions including stable arrhythmias, post-pacemaker placement, and chronic renal failure. Manage advanced respiratory support such as stable trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow oxygen (up to 6L). Serve as a key coordinator for patient care across hospital departments, ensuring safe transitions and effective communication. Act as patient advocate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including spiritual and palliative care. Maintain a calm, adaptive response in emergencies and fluctuating workloads. Qualifications/Desired Experience: Current RN licensure with compact state eligibility. Dysrhythmia Exam certification required; study guide available. BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications mandatory. Prefer neuro experience and certifications such as CCRN or PCCN. Minimum 1 year RN experience; 6 months acute care preferred. Familiarity with EPIC EHR training is a plus. Physical & Skill Requirements: Capability to lift, stand, bend, push and pull with frequent physical activity throughout shifts. Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure. Proficient in clinical judgment and evidence-based nursing practice. This is a night position (12-hour shifts), scheduled every other weekend and holiday, requiring commitment and dedication. Navy blue scrubs are the standard uniform.
