Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse - Schertz, TX

An opportunity is available for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting. This role offers hands-on experience with post-operative cardiac patients, including those with advanced cardiac support devices. The position is a contract assignment located in Schertz, TX, with rotations in a nearby major medical center where device training will be provided. Key Responsibilities: Deliver patient-centered care in the CVICU, managing complex cardiovascular cases Perform hemodynamic monitoring, including Swan-Ganz catheters and arterial lines Manage ventilators and ensure proper respiratory support Monitor and care for patients post-CABG, VAD implantation, and catheterization with devices such as IABP, Impella, and ECMO Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes Adhere to hospital policies including attendance, dress code, and floating requirements Qualifications and Desired Experience: Minimum of 2 years ICU nursing experience with strong critical thinking skills Current TX RN license (no temporary licenses accepted) BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH certification preferred Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management mandatory Preferred exposure to IABP and CRRT Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, especially Meditech, is a plus Work Schedule: Shifts available: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM Rotating weekends required Guaranteed hours approximately 36 per week About the Location: The position is based near San Antonio, in Schertz, TX, a vibrant community known for its welcoming atmosphere, mixture of suburban and urban amenities, and proximity to major medical facilities.
