A specialized opportunity is available for registered nurses with ICU and CVICU experience, focusing on cardiac and critical care patients in a high-acuity setting. This contract position offers a 12-hour night shift schedule with a defined rotating weekend commitment including Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, and requires working approximately 75% of holidays. Location: Monroe, NC, a welcoming city known for its Southern charm and growing healthcare community. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert nursing care for adult patients recovering from complex cardiac surgeries including ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, Impella devices, and heart transplants. Maintain patient ratios typically at 1:2, ensuring close monitoring and rapid response. Utilize Epic electronic medical records to document care and communicate during twice-daily patient presentations. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team featuring intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and support staff available 24/7. Adhere to all protocols involving advanced cardiac equipment and monitoring technologies including Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication systems, and Philips & Edwards monitors. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Current RN license with at least two years of experience specifically in CTICU or similar high-level cardiac nursing. Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. Proven proficiency with Epic EMR is mandatory. Familiarity with complex cardiac devices and ability to lead patient case presentations. No acceptance of first-time travelers; experienced professionals preferred. Additional Information: Orientation includes 3 days of departmental training and facility onboarding. Supportive unit culture emphasizing teamwork and proactive patient care. Scrub color is navy blue. Free parking available on-site. Floating to other adult critical care units as needed. No on-call or call-back responsibilities.
