This opportunity seeks a licensed Pharmacy Technician with expertise in inpatient settings, IV compounding, and Pyxis system operation. Located in the Long Beach, CA area, this position offers a focused role primarily supporting a 117 licensed bed facility with an average daily census of 44 patients. Ideal candidates will hold an active California pharmacy technician license and possess strong skills in filling Pyxis machines and handling IV compounding duties. Position Overview: Role: Interim Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Location: Long Beach, CA area (local candidates preferred) License: California Pharmacy Technician License required Duration: Full-time (40 hours/week) for approximately 4 weeks, transitioning to PRN status thereafter Shift Schedule: • Rotating shifts from 07:30 to 16:00 or 12:00 to 20:30 • Weekend coverage Saturday and Sunday from 08:00 to 16:30 Key Responsibilities: Prepare and compound intravenous medications adhering to sterile techniques Manage and fill automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis) accurately and efficiently Utilize Paragon/Allscripts systems for order entry and medication management Collaborate with pharmacy and clinical staff to ensure timely medication delivery Maintain compliance with all safety, regulatory, and quality standards Desired Experience and Qualifications: Current and valid California Pharmacy Technician license Experience with IV compounding in an inpatient environment Proficient in using Pyxis automated dispensing systems Familiarity with Paragon or Allscripts pharmacy order entry systems Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety This contract position offers a valuable opportunity to support pharmacy operations in a dynamic hospital environment with a robust rotation schedule and the possibility to continue on a PRN basis after the initial full-time commitment.
