Registered Nurse School Setting - Naperville, IL

A full-time 1:1 Registered Nurse position is available in a school-based setting located in Naperville, IL. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to a medically fragile pediatric student from morning bus commute through the entire school day. The nurse will also support classroom academics as needed, making this a dynamic and impactful opportunity for an experienced pediatric nurse. Key Responsibilities: Provide skilled pediatric ventilator care, including setting management, suctioning, bagging, and troubleshooting alarms Perform tracheostomy care, including changes and use of Heat and Moisture Exchanger (HME) Manage medical equipment connections and conduct emergency response procedures efficiently Administer gastrostomy (GT) feeding using enteral pumps, prepare feeds, and flush with water as required Support student positioning, transfers, incontinence management, and conduct regular skin checks Assist with donning and doffing Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFOs) Accompany student on morning bus commute (approximate 5-10 minute ride) Aid with classroom academic activities when needed Required Qualifications: Active State-Issued Nursing License Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Demonstrated proficiency in pediatric ventilator care and related nursing skills specific to medically complex students Experience in a school nursing or pediatric nursing role preferred This position is a contract assignment extending through May 22, 2026.
