A healthcare opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with MedSurg and Telemetry expertise, located in Concord, NC. This contract position offers a chance to work in a large, Level I Trauma teaching hospital that holds Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center, and Magnet Designation, providing an enriching environment for professional growth. Responsibilities include delivering nursing care to patients primarily undergoing head, neck, and gastrointestinal surgeries such as tracheostomies, laryngectomies, hernia repairs, colorectal surgery, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and ostomy takedowns. Additional care for medical overflow patients is required. You will manage patient care with typical nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:4 to 1:6, though ratios may increase during surge staffing. Support from CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy specialists, and hospitalists is available, but nurses are responsible for telemetry monitoring and responding to patient needs without dedicated monitoring techs. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Minimum of 2 years of MedSurg or Telemetry nursing experience required. BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications mandatory. Competent in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach and chest tube management. Skilled in PIV starts, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pump operation. Experience with medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids. Familiarity with EPIC EMR system and Alaris IV pumps preferred. Scheduling: Weekend rotation every other week. Travelers are expected to work approximately 75% of holidays. Up to 6 days off approved (excluding holidays), with contract extensions if needed.
