RRT in Apex, NC

Providing advanced respiratory care within an intensive rehabilitation setting, this role requires expertise in delivering patient-centered respiratory treatments with minimal supervision. The position is based in Apex, NC, and offers a contract opportunity to apply specialized knowledge in managing critical illness and rehabilitation patients. Key Responsibilities: Evaluate patients' respiratory status and recommend appropriate treatment plans. Educate patients on treatment procedures, testing, and equipment use, ensuring understanding for home care. Administer physician-prescribed therapies using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen delivery systems, aerosol, and nebulizer devices. Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning techniques (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal). Conduct oximetry, capnography monitoring, 12-lead EKGs, and basic arrhythmia recognition. Execute pulmonary function tests (NIF, VC, etc.) and assist with respiratory procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care. Carry out arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency; interpret and report laboratory testing results where applicable. Operate and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment, including setup, self-tests, and preventive maintenance coordination. Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and therapy communications in medical records. Adhere to BLS and ACLS guidelines during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential. Proficiency with ventilatory equipment and respiratory care techniques. Experience with arterial blood gas sampling and analysis. Basic understanding of cardiopulmonary monitoring and emergency response protocols. Strong communication skills for collaboration with physicians and healthcare teams. Ability to maintain accurate records and charge capture documentation.
