Adaptive PE Teacher in Metairie, LA

A school district in the New Orleans, LA area is seeking experienced Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teachers to provide specialized physical education services across multiple campuses. This full-time, contract position involves working itinerantly with students ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade in the Kenner, LA area (east bank). Opportunities for part-time hours may also be considered. Location: Kenner, LA (multiple campuses, itinerant position) Contract Duration: ASAP start through May 22, 2026 Schedule: 35 hours per week, flexible scheduling aligned with current APE teachers Caseload: Approximately 60 visits per week spanning all grade levels (K-12), serving 6-8 assigned schools Key Responsibilities: Deliver adaptive physical education services tailored to diverse students with physical, cognitive, or developmental challenges Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with school staff and families Maintain documentation and progress reports for all assigned students Coordinate scheduling across multiple campuses to ensure consistent service delivery Comply with district policies including drug screening and fingerprinting requirements Qualifications: Minimum of a PE teacher certification; APE certification preferred Experience working with students with special needs in physical education settings Ability to manage itinerant caseloads effectively across several schools Strong communication and organizational skills This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' physical development and participation in school-based activities while enjoying a flexible, professional work environment.
