OVERVIEWJOB TITLE: Undergraduate Research Assistant - CNC Machining LOCATION: St. Paul PAY RATE: $17-17.75 HOURS: This is a summer 2026 full-time job. JOB SUMMARY Assist with key activities to conduct research into tool wear in CNC machining in the Center for Advanced Manufacturing. This may include: Presenting literature summaries to research group and professors Programming CNC machines Designing and carrying out experiments using 3 and 5 axis CNC machines Building test set-ups and troubleshooting Evaluating surface finishes Taking and analyzing data Technical writing Additional duties may arise as dictated by specific needs of a project. QUALIFICATIONSAbility to work independently Good technical writing and communication skills Good project management skills Successful completion of ENGR 255 Attention to safety details Knowledge of CAM software and machining experience preferred. ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
