Med-Surg Nurse (RN) in Petersburg, IL

Deliver compassionate, specialized care as a Med Surg RN with expertise in Urology and Nephrology in a well-regarded acute care hospital setting. This contract opportunity focuses on providing night shift nursing on a 25-bed unit, with a manageable average daily census of 23 patients. Ideal candidates will have a solid foundation in medical-surgical nursing and the ability to adapt within a dynamic clinical environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide patient-centered care on a Medical Surgical unit specializing in Urology and Nephrology Perform pre- and post-hemodialysis patient management and renal failure care Administer IV therapy including blood products, central and peripheral line management, and starting IVs Utilize telemetry monitoring technology and participate in rapid response protocols Manage respiratory treatments including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow oxygen, and oral suctioning Implement infection control procedures and wound care, including wound vac application Float to other medical surgical units as needed, maintaining flexibility within scope Work every other weekend and be prepared to function as Charge Nurse when required Qualifications and Experience: Active IL RN license or application in process Minimum of 2 years medical-surgical nursing experience; first-time travel nurses with a strong RN foundation welcome BLS certification required Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting system Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, IV therapy, respiratory support, and renal care Ability to adapt to facility protocols and maintain high standards of care Schedule: Night shift (1845 - 0715), either 3x12 or 4x12 hours About Petersburg, IL: Located within driving distance of several larger cities, Petersburg offers a quieter pace of life with friendly communities and easy access to healthcare facilities and amenities.
