Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Neurology Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/23/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Mar 23, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit position requiring Level 1 trauma experience and dysrhythmia competency in an acute care hospital setting. Details Work in a 48-bed Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit (6N) with 10 dedicated epilepsy specialty rooms in a Level 1 trauma, acute care hospital Patient population includes epilepsy (24-48 hour trend EEGs), brain tumors, subdural hematoma, scoliosis surgeries, TBI, and other neurological diagnoses Patient ratio is 1:4 on both days and nights Unit uses Cerner EMR Unit type is primarily Med/Surg with telemetry also required Vents: BiPAP managed by respiratory therapy; RT available 24/7 Charge nurse present with no patient assignment; one resource RN available on both day and night shifts; PCT support of 1-2 on days and 1 at night SWAT RN available for difficult IV access Hospitalist or intensivist in-house during days; pharmacy available 24/7 12-hour night shifts, 7pā7a 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period; self-scheduling Floating may be required to Med/Surg or Telemetry floors Holiday coverage required per unit rotation Requirements Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) license required; must be active at time of consideration ā pending licenses will not be accepted Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Level 1 trauma experience required Med/Surg and/or telemetry background required; strong critical thinking and assessment skills essential BSN preferred; Med/Surg or Telemetry certification preferred Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation (2 attempts allowed) Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Valid driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Responsibilities include neurological assessment, monitoring trend EEGs, managing epilepsy patients, and detecting subtle changes in patient condition; Med/Surg and Tele RNs will be trained to assess cranial nerves Day 1 of orientation includes a pass/fail SIMs Lab evaluation covering sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; nurses who break sterile field may be dismissed Orientation also covers lifts, restraints, and wound care in an educational format Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts on the unit Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address Grey's Anatomy steel scrub color required Natural hair color required; no facial piercings permitted; men must be clean-shaven (for fit testing purposes) Travel nurses must have access to their own personal vehicle American Traveler Job ID P-675754.
