Join a dedicated neonatal nursing team in the Richmond area and deliver family-centered care to newborns in a supportive travel nursing role. Job Details Location: Midlothian, VA 23114 (Richmond metro area) Setting: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) — 10-bed unit (28 weeks gestation and up; no surgical or high-frequency ventilation patients) Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment Start Date: March 23, 2026 End Date: June 20, 2026 Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) Hours per Week: 36 Schedule: Every other weekend and major holidays required; possible call up to 24 hours in 6 weeks Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130 - $2,250 per week Travel Nurse Note: Locals not accepted (must live more than 50 miles from facility) Job Requirements / Qualifications Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (required) BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications (required) Minimum 3 years of NICU RN experience (required) — demonstrated neonatal assessment and critical care skills Previous travel nursing experience (preferred) Clinical experience with bubble CPAP, ventilator management, umbilical lines, peripheral IVs (PIV), arterial/peripheral blood draws, and neonatal resuscitation Strong neonatal assessment, clinical decision-making, and family-centered communication skills Willingness to float within the New Life Center or to outside NICU units as needed Responsibilities Provide comprehensive, family-centered neonatal care as a NICU Registered Nurse (RN) Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized care plans Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately following unit protocols Perform procedures including bubble CPAP, ventilator management, umbilical line care, PIV insertion, arterial and peripheral blood draws, and heel sticks Participate in neonatal resuscitation and stabilization as needed (NRP skills required) Educate and support families throughout the NICU stay, including breastfeeding support and discharge planning Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (neonatology, respiratory therapy, lactation consultants, social work) to ensure optimal patient outcomes Maintain accurate, timely documentation using Epic EHR Model core cultural and safety behaviors to promote a safe, high-quality care environment Why join us: This travel nursing NICU job offers the chance to work in a family-focused community near Richmond, VA while gaining diverse neonatal experience and collaborating with an experienced NICU team.
