Job Description

Medical Secretary II We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Secretary II to join our Perinatal Center team in Towson. In this role, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to medical staff while ensuring efficient office operations and exceptional patient service. Responsibilities include: Processing patient registration, insurance verification, and ensuring the completion of office paperwork Scanning medical documentation Handling medical correspondence, reports, and confidential patient records Coordinating with healthcare providers to ensure smooth daily operations Collecting copays, patient balances, and completing end of the day collection reports Performing real time eligibility for insurances in advance of visit Maintaining and updating Electronic Health Records (EHR) Answering and directing phone calls, responding to patient inquiries professionally Scheduling appointments in the office and obtaining prior authorizations for ultrasound services and antenatal testing Ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and healthcare policies Prepping charts for future dates of services and other duties as assigned Work experience required: High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare administrative role Medical Secretary certification preferred Medical coding certification preferred Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems Strong knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures Excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite Experience with medical scheduling software Demonstrated knowledge of medical billing and insurance procedures Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent verbal and written communication abilities Detail-oriented with high accuracy in data entry Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
