The Off Shift Director of Nursing is a Nursing Leader who serves as a resource for problem solving, provides clinical expertise, facilitates staff mentoring and coaching, facilitates patient flow during the off shifts (typically, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays). Responsibilities include overseeing and assuring short and long term Nursing Dept. staff schedules per established guidelines, facilitating units in emergency medical assessment and care of residents including interventions, transportation and other resources needed, serving as a clinical resource person to staff in problem solving, assessments, special procedures and clinical skill enhancements, coordinating with the Nursing Staff resident units and admissions dept. the rapid admission of residents including obtaining evaluations as indicated, serving as adjunct to staff development coordinator in promoting planned in-services to nursing staff as per master schedule/plan, providing continuity of resident status with hospital supervisory staff, and Nursing Administration, supervising the M.D.R. directing, interacting with residents, families and staff in providing safe, pleasant mealtime and assuring appropriate completion of required records, and serving as major facilitator in QA program for Nursing Dept. including completion of assessments of designated audits and resultant actions required. Minimum qualifications include a minimum of two to three years of RN experience. Required licensure/certification skills include a current New York State Registered Nurse License and BLS required for all new candidates prior to hire and BLS required for all internal team members by 12/31/2014. Physical requirements include medium work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
