Registered Dietitian – Eating Disorders Industry: Behavioral Health / Residential Treatment Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Clinical Nutrition Manager Position Summary A leading behavioral health treatment facility is seeking a Registered Dietitian with experience or strong interest in eating disorder treatment. This role is responsible for overseeing the nutritional aspects of resident care, including assessment, meal planning, education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary treatment team. The Dietitian plays a key role in supporting recovery through evidence-based nutritional interventions, compliance oversight, and performance improvement initiatives. Core Competencies Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and resident confidentiality standards Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and manage deadlines Proficiency with EMR systems and documentation guidelines Strong written and verbal communication skills Effective conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities Ability to remain calm and professional in crisis situations Demonstrates appropriate professional boundaries Understanding of addiction disease concepts and 12-Step principles preferred Knowledge of healthcare compliance and licensing requirements Strong time management, planning, and independent decision-making skills Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization Essential Duties & Responsibilities Direct and oversee the nutritional components of resident care and treatment Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments, consultations, care planning, and monitoring Develop, implement, and monitor individualized meal plans Provide individual nutritional counseling and resident education Facilitate group nutrition education sessions focused on recovery and relapse prevention Supervise and support meals and snacks as clinically appropriate Manage movement-related activities and provide individualized goals when applicable Utilize tube feeding, refeeding protocols, and stabilization methods as appropriate Review, update, and approve diet manuals and related protocols Collaborate closely with culinary leadership on menu design and approval of special diets Ensure proper implementation of all dietary instructions Maintain accurate and timely nutrition documentation in resident charts Evaluate food items to ensure alignment with facility philosophy and treatment goals Assist with departmental goal development, policies, and procedures Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required Minimum of one (1) year of experience required Experience working with eating disorder patients strongly preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field required Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Experience navigating EMR systems Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Strong organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills Professional demeanor with excellent customer service orientation
