Job Description

A specialized opportunity is available for a Registered Respiratory Therapist and ECMO Specialist in a pediatric critical care setting. This contract role combines expertise in neonatal and pediatric respiratory care with the operation of advanced ECMO systems for critically ill patients. Candidates will alternate between providing respiratory therapy and managing ECMO support, ensuring continuous high-level care. Location: Quincy, MA This location offers access to a vibrant community with a rich history and proximity to major metropolitan areas, making it an ideal blend of suburban comfort and urban convenience. Key Responsibilities: Deliver bedside respiratory and ECMO care to neonatal and pediatric critical care patients Assemble and prime ECMO circuits and manage pump systems, including centrifugal ECMO devices Respond promptly (within 10 minutes) to clinical changes and equipment needs Administer blood products and medications, draw labs from ECMO circuits, and provide patient transport support Manage circuit changes and recognize & respond to clot formation Support general respiratory therapy as needed when ECMO assignments are unavailable Qualifications: Current MA Respiratory Therapist License (RRT or RRT-NPS) Required certifications: BLS, PALS, ALS Preferred: CES, PE, NPEC credentials Experience with centrifugal ECMO systems Strong critical thinking and rapid response capability in high-acuity settings Shift Details: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM Every third weekend required This hybrid Respiratory Therapist/ECMO Specialist role is ideal for clinicians seeking a challenging contract position with the opportunity to impact pediatric critical care directly.
