Job Title: Support Engineer II Location: Austin, TX 78758 Duration: 3 Months Contract Pay Rate: $29.00/hr. (W2) Overview: Our high-profile technology client is seeking a Drone Flight Support Assistant Support Engineer II to join a Research and Development team focused on inventing and developing transformative new experiences. This role will support the development and testing of cutting-edge, safety-related technologies. The ideal candidate will act as an operations specialist, assisting with mission planning, operational readiness activities, and lightweight maintenance. This individual should demonstrate strong attention to detail, a safety-first mindset, flexibility, and enthusiasm for emerging technologies. The top 3 must-have skills are: 14 CFR Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification Remote-Control/UAS Pilot Experience (2+ years) Aeronautical Knowledge & Mission Planning - Ability to understand flight operations, safety protocols, and coordinate missions effectively. Key Responsibilities Assist with the development and testing of innovative safety-related technologies. Support mission planning and operational readiness activities. Perform lightweight maintenance tasks on operational equipment. Assist with logistics planning and operational coordination. Maintain accurate tracking and documentation using tools such as Jira. Support field operations and ensure adherence to safety standards and operational protocols. Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to support ongoing testing initiatives. Required Qualifications 14 CFR Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate Strong aeronautical knowledge 2+ years of remote-control pilot experience with excellent coordination and execution Experience using Jira for tracking tasks or projects Valid Driver's License Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally Ability to stand or walk for 8-10 hours with breaks Ability to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach Experience leading small teams Willingness to work graveyard shifts Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time Preferred Qualifications Experience within the commercial UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) industry Aviation safety experience as a Safety Officer or similar role Current U.S. fixed-wing or rotorcraft pilot certificate Strong business communication and reporting skills Additional Requirements Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check required If this is a role that interests you and you'd like to learn more, click apply now and a recruiter will be in touch with you to discuss this great opportunity.
