Litigation Associate

Job Title: Litigation Associate – Defense Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid Eligible) Practice Areas: Toxic Tort | Product Liability | General Liability | Construction Defect A nationally recognized civil defense firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with a minimum of two years of defense litigation experience to join its San Francisco office. The firm represents national and regional clients in complex, high-exposure matters and provides associates with meaningful responsibility and substantive litigation experience. Position Overview This role is ideal for an associate who is already independently managing files and actively involved in deposition practice, motion work, and trial preparation. Associates will work on sophisticated defense matters involving toxic tort, product liability, construction defect, and general liability claims. Key Responsibilities Independently manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution Conduct and defend plaintiff, fact witness, and expert depositions Draft, file, and argue substantive motions, including dispositive motions Prepare and respond to written discovery Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners Participate in trial preparation, including witness preparation and exhibit development Maintain accurate and timely billing records Qualifications Juris Doctor from an accredited law school Active admission to the California Bar Minimum of 2 years of civil defense litigation experience Demonstrated experience with motion practice and depositions Experience taking lead on plaintiff and/or expert depositions preferred Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities Preferred Experience Toxic tort litigation Product liability defense Construction defect litigation Complex civil litigation matters Compensation & Benefits Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
