Litigation Paralegal

POSITION SUMMARY: Steptoe & Johnson, a Law360 Top 200 law firm, is recruiting for an experienced, professional paralegal to join our Dallas office. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience handling complex, high exposure civil litigation in Texas district courts and county courts at law. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Work proactively with attorneys in preparing for written discovery, depositions, mediations, hearings, pretrial and trial in fast-paced, high exposure litigation; 2. Obtain and analyze voluminous medical records, with effective use of depositions on written questions, third-party subpoenas and an investigative mindset; 3. Prepare and maintain medical chronologies, billing summaries and expert witness communication logs; 4. Manage in-take and organization of case files transferred from other law firms in pending lawsuits with imminent deadlines and trial settings; 5. Communicate effectively with a team of attorneys, legal assistants and other paralegals working together on the same cases; and 6. Meet annual billable hour goal (to be agreed before hire) by submitting entries on a daily basis with descriptions in compliance with client guidelines. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree, paralegal certificate, or relevant job experience required with prior law firm experience in complex civil litigation cases.
