Pharmacy Director - Lexington, North Carolina

This role oversees pharmacy operations at a behavioral health facility, ensuring efficient medication management and compliance within a Joint Commission environment. The ideal candidate will lead all pharmacy functions, including staff supervision, order verification, and policy development, to guarantee timely patient medication delivery and budget adherence. Location: Lexington, NC Job Type: Contract Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM On-call availability (typically light) Weekend coverage 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM as needed Responsibilities: Manage pharmacy staff, including 2 part-time pharmacists (0.5 FTE) and technicians Dispense medications and verify orders using the HCS system Supervise and check technician work; assist with stocking automated Omnicell cabinets Participate in P&T committee activities, antimicrobial stewardship, and policy updates Ensure timely medication delivery to patients and maintain staffing coverage within budget Support pharmacy operations in a facility undergoing Joint Commission accreditation review Qualifications/Desired Experience: Licensed pharmacist in North Carolina Experience in inpatient pharmacy management Behavioral health and Joint Commission experience preferred Familiarity with HCS order entry system and Omnicell automation is a plus (training provided) Additional Information: Four to five days of training and orientation with outgoing Director of Pharmacy beginning February 25th Coverage needed until May 29th or until a permanent candidate is hired Local candidates preferred; travel expenses may be considered for remote hires This contract requires proactive leadership and strong organizational skills to support pharmacy operations during a critical period.
