Job Title: Electrical Project Engineer (Level I)Labor Category: Project Management/Coordination Job Level: 1 Location: Orlando, FL Duration: 1-Year Contract Employment Type: W2 Entry-level/Early-career Electrical Engineering role focused on managing small electric distribution projects under senior engineer supervision. Position Description Working knowledge of all, but not limited to, the following: OUC Construction Standards Manuals (Overhead and Underground) OUC Electric Service and Digital Meter Installation Manual NEC / NESC books OUC Engineering Manual Letter of Responsibility - unique specification package provided to customers Permits issued by local governing agencies Process to obtain a meter installation Construction crew scheduling Limitations of construction crews' abilities with regard to equipment and manpower Familiarity with all, but not limited to, the following: Civil, AutoCAD, and technical drawings Riser diagrams GIS maps Invoices Estimate reports Equipment (i.e., iPhone, measuring wheel, company radio, hammer, wood stakes, spray paint) Software applications (i.e., PSERM, CC&B, AutoCAD, ePets, Arc-Reader, ARM360) Related industry, organizational, and departmental policies, practices, and procedures Legal guidelines, ordinances, and laws Additional competencies include: Ability to calculate amperage on both sides of the meter for wiring/transformer sizing, voltage drop, and fault current Understanding and application of governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.) Working Conditions May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions Risk of electrical shock Work in confined spaces Exposure to insects Physical Requirements Standing, walking, sitting, bending/stooping Repetitive motions Reaching overhead Climbing (stairs, hills, ladders, etc.) Lifting up to twenty (20) pounds Speaking and hearing Typing, writing, and detailed inspection May be required to drive a company vehicle Skills Required Analyze future projects from a distribution electrical engineering perspective by preparing designs, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents Oversee projects and manage capital projects from start to finish, providing electric service to new and existing customers Primary Functions Prepare designs, plans/specifications, and documents for Electric Distribution projects Complete cost estimates for Electric Distribution projects Manage Electrical Distribution projects from development stage through completion Analyze electrical plans for new project developments (commercial and residential) Review completed projects by comparing actual costs with estimated costs and verify accuracy of new infrastructure within OUC GIS mapping system Resolve conflicts with multiple parties including OUC customers, contractors, governmental agencies, and internal employees Inspect distribution infrastructure installed by private contractors and OUC contractors Perform other duties as assigned Experience Required No experience required Education Required Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university Additional Information This role will help supplement the workload as OUC incorporates Grid Hardening projects during this fiscal year.
