Job Description

Safety isn't just what we do, it's who we are. At Martin Concrete Construction, safety goes beyond hard hats and checklists. It's about people, communication, and doing the right thing every day, on every jobsite. We're currently looking for a Bilingual Onsite Safety Coordinator who thrives in the field, builds strong relationships with crews, and understands that the most effective safety leaders teach, coach, and lead by example. If you're approachable, organized, proactive, and passionate about keeping people safe - we want to hear from you. As an Onsite Safety Coordinator, you will be a visible and trusted safety presence on active construction jobsites. You'll work closely with Superintendents, project teams, subcontractors, and the Safety Operations Manager to ensure safety standards are followed - while maintaining a positive, team-first approach. This is a fast-paced, hands-on field role where no two days are the same. You'll spend your time interacting with people, identifying hazards, leading safety discussions, and helping crews solve problems before incidents occur. What You'll Do Serve as the primary onsite safety resource, supporting crews and leadership. Conduct weekly safety inspections, document findings, and submit reports. Continuously monitor jobsite safety practices and address unsafe conditions immediately. Enforce OSHA regulations, customer safety programs, and company safety policies. Lead Toolbox Talks, Stretch & Flex sessions, and daily JSA meetings in an engaging, interactive way - not lectures. Communicate safety expectations clearly and respectfully in both English and Spanish. Collaborate with Superintendents and Safety leadership to implement corrective actions. Ensure proper use of PPE by employees and subcontractors. Report injuries, incidents, equipment damage, or thefts within required timeframes. Assist with scheduling safety training and maintaining compliance records. Stock and maintain safety supplies while upholding professional jobsite appearance. Attend required meetings and training sessions and contribute ideas to improve safety culture. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who: Fully bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred, but the ability to confidently communicate in multiple languages in the field is required. Be able and willing to travel regularly between jobsites. Be flexible with work hours and based on job and project needs. Builds trust and rapport with diverse crews and personalities. Understands construction environments and jobsite realities. Has experience in safety coordination, construction safety, or a related field. Is knowledgeable in OSHA standards and general construction safety practices. Can manage multiple tasks while staying organized and detail oriented. Leads with a help-first mindset, not an enforcement-only approach. Maintains professionalism in a fast-moving, hands-on environment. Are comfortable documenting findings and using basic technology (Word, Excel, Outlook). Safety certifications, administrative experience, and prior field leadership are a plus. Physical & Field Requirements This is an active, field-based position that requires being present on construction jobsites for most of the day. The Onsite Safety Coordinator must be comfortable working in outdoor environments and physically navigating active construction areas. This role regularly requires: Walking and standing for extended periods throughout the workday Moving between different areas of large, active jobsites Climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and navigating uneven terrain Bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching as needed to inspect work areas Working in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and rain Wearing required PPE at all times (hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, work boots, etc.) Lifting and carrying safety materials or equipment (up to 40 lbs. as needed) This role is best suited for someone who enjoys being active, visible in the field, and engaged directly with crews throughout the day.
