Position Overview The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading the production team during assigned shifts to ensure the highest levels of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role manages personnel, oversees daily production operations, and ensures compliance with company standards and regulations. The Shift Supervisor is also responsible for fostering two-way communication, developing team capabilities, and driving continuous improvement within the production environment. Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesCell Operation Act as the owner of the assigned area, managing designated lines and supervising team members during shift operations. Oversee daily production activities, ensuring effective employee performance, equipment run-time, and timely completion of tasks. Monitor and support employees performing machine operation, safety inspections, troubleshooting, and product inspections. Maintain strong visibility on the production floor by standing/walking throughout the shift. Lead daily shift handovers, line meetings, and activities such as brand changes, clean-inspect-lubricate routines, and stock counts. Develop vacation schedules for subordinates, balancing business and employee needs. Cell Improvement Participate in root cause analyses for deficiencies and complaints; initiate corrective actions and improvements. Lead and support projects that improve safety, quality, spare parts costs, and efficiency. Encourage employees to provide suggestions for improvement and implement solutions to meet continuous improvement goals. Cell Development Develop, maintain, and update quality system documentation and procedures relevant to shift operations. Ensure team compliance with all operational and quality procedures. Manage work time records, including attendance tracking and overtime reporting. Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Ensure compliance with all JTI health and safety requirements. Know and maintain required control measures. Demonstrate safe behaviors and enforce workplace safety standards. Report and address incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. Support the continuous improvement of EHS processes and hazard elimination. People Development Recruit, motivate, and guide the professional growth of team members. Provide coaching, training, and feedback to strengthen individual and team capabilities. RequirementsEducation Secondary education required. Completion of technical or vocational training. Experience Minimum 2+ years of supervisory experience managing hourly employees in a production environment. Experience managing in a unionized environment preferred. Familiarity with Integrated Work System (IWS) principles desirable. Skills & Knowledge Basic PC literacy, including MS Office applications. Experience with Oracle or SAP preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
