Shop Helper Job Duties Include: Responsible for loading and unloading materials. Verify materials to be loaded or unloaded using a work order. Ensure the accuracy of packaging and labeling for shipments. Assemble wooden pallets according to job specifications using hand and power tools. Notify the supervisor promptly of any supply shortages. Inspect finished materials for quality. Coordinate the sorting of materials by job numbers. As requested by the supervisor, assist in the powder coating process, including sanding, grinding, and cleaning. Use and properly maintain all company tools and equipment within the Glomar department. Operate overhead cranes and vacuum lifters. Utilize respiratory protection when grinding, powder coating, and blasting as needed. Conduct quality control checks, including using a holiday tester for defects, measuring dry film thickness, and performing visual inspections of tank parts. Work in noisy conditions with hearing protection while using hand and power tools (e.g., hammers, pneumatic tools, compressors). Apply liquid paint with brushes or spray cans to touch up tank coatings. Work in confined spaces while following applicable safety guidelines. Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors. Maintain plant safety at all times.
