Safety Coordinator

Every day brings something new with hundreds of events throughout the year and annual events such as the Big Ten Football Championship game, FDIC International, Gen Con, Indiana Black Expo, Indiana Comic Con, National FFA, and PRI. Summary: This position oversees compliance with federal, state and local regulations and company policies regarding safety and environmental issues. The function of the position is to identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and or property damage using safety standards, best management practices, and analytical techniques. Previous experience & requirements: Must have previous experience with safety and training. Ideal candidate will have experience with building or revising a safety program. Must be available to work flexible hours; 1st shift M-F with some weekend, partial 2nd & 3rd shift hours to ensure working with all employees across all shifts and or when there are large shows with safety concerns. Must be available to deal with emergency safety issues nights & weekends, unless you are out on vacation. Needs to establish main duties, document & train HR team to back-up. Previous HR experience is beneficial, but not required. Job Responsibilities: Maintain compliance with all Federal, State and Local safety, health and environmental programs as required by regulations and fulfill and maintain all associated records as required. Audit various departments to ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental standards and recommend and monitor corrective action. (Audit for events & any issues are reported to HR Manager & Event Coordinators). Provide technical assistance in controlling losses from injuries, liabilities and property losses. Monitor & disseminate applicable health, safety and regulatory information to the appropriate personnel. Develop self-audit tools to ensure compliance with standards and safety practices. Determine safety training needs for supervisors and employees and develop safety and health training programs. Facilitate and organize safety training sessions. Assist supervisors and managers to achieve training and incident reduction goals. Maintain/administer Worker's Compensation program and assist supervisors in properly investigating and documenting all accidents and injuries. Ensure compliance with OSHA form 300A posting requirements. Represent the company with OSHA, and other regulatory officials regarding issues, inspections, investigations and enforcement actions. Conduct monthly safety committee meetings. Coordinate, disseminate, and participate in Health & Safety incident reports that arise at ICCLOS. Post-accident reporting, drug test coordination & any applicable correspondence. Other duties as assigned by HR or Business Operations.
