Job Title: Learning & Resource Center Manager Department: Library Reports To: Director of Student Success & Learning Services Supervises: Learning & Resource Center Staff Job Classification: Exempt Location: Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls, IA Summary: The Learning & Resource Center Manager provides leadership and oversight for comprehensive academic resources that support student success, access to learning resources, and campus services. This position manages library services, academic support functions, and operational services within the Resource Center, including the Writing Center, technology access, testing support, and auxiliary services. The manager ensures the Resource Center operates as a welcoming, student-centered environment that promotes learning, persistence, and engagement for students while supporting faculty and staff needs. Job Responsibilities: Direct daily operations of the Learning and Resource Center. Establish and maintain policies and procedures. Manage staffing, scheduling, and facility use. Ensure an inclusive, organized, student-centered environment. The Learning and Resource Center Manager will also oversee limited IT Solutions, Laptop Lending, Read Across America, Writing Center, backup for Switchboard, Make-Up Testing, ID Machine, and the Panther Shop. Work with marketing to market the Learning and Resource Center to faculty, staff, and students via newsletters, social media, and class presentations. Serve on campus committees, attends supervisory roundtables and expanded leadership team meetings. Oversee physical and electronic collections, including books, e-books, and research databases. Manage circulation, reserves, and resource access. Collaborate with faculty to support instructional materials and curriculum needs. Promote information literacy and effective use of academic resources. Maintain accurate service usage data and operational records. Prepare and submit state and federal reports related to library and resource services, as applicable. Support accreditation, grant reporting, and institutional data requests. Acquires, manages, and discards materials to keep collections current, to support the college curriculum, and to facilitate various accreditations. Provide front-line technology and learning support for students, including assistance with account issues and basic LMS access, navigation, and troubleshooting, as well as support for instructional digital content. Support operation of the auditorium audio-video system for events and instructional activities, coordinating with IT and other departments as needed to ensure reliable setups and smooth event delivery. Oversee day-to-day Panther Shop operations, including POS system management, staff training and supervision, inventory tracking, vendor selection and ordering, merchandising, and promotional activities. Review processes on a regular basis to make sure Learning and Resource Center is running smoothly and effectively. Communicate maintenance needs to Plant Service. Provide statistical information on library usage. Work and communicate professionally with others in a timely manner. Performs in a manner which benefits student learning. Support the overall success of the District by performing other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required, relevant years of service in areas of library services, academic support services and supervisory experience preferred. Strong customer service, organizational skills, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and the district. Abilities: Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems, discovery tools, and electronic resources. Knowledge of cataloging standards, classification systems, and collection management practices. Knowledge of research databases and statewide resource sharing programs. Knowledge of budgeting, purchasing, inventory management, and fiscal procedures. Knowledge of point-of-sale systems and basic retail operations. Knowledge of textbook distribution workflows and course material access support. Skill in supervising, training, and supporting staff across multiple service areas. Skill in planning, organizing, and maintaining learning spaces to support student success. Skill in providing reference, instruction, and faculty focused library services. Skill in communicating effectively with students, staff, faculty, and vendors. Ability to manage multiple operational areas (library, textbooks, retail) with shifting priorities. Ability to analyze data and prepare departmental, state, and federal usage reports. Ability to make independent decisions, use sound judgment, and adapt to changing needs. Ability to work collaboratively within campus committees, partnerships, and leadership groups. Base Wage: $47,472-$63,296 annually - actual salary will be based on experience and education.
