Job Details Location: Des Moines, IA 50314 (Des Moines healthcare jobs, Iowa nursing jobs) Setting: Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) - LTAC nurse / long-term acute care nurse role Assignment Type: Travel (travel nurse, travel nursing) Start Date: March 23, 2026 Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour day shifts (3 shifts per week) Hours per Week: 36 Estimated Weekly Pay: $2000-$2100 On-Site Position Job Requirements / Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license BLS Certification (required prior to first shift) ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift) Minimum of 2 years of bedside clinical experience Experience in LTAC, acute care, or similar complex care settings preferred Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills Preferred skills: ventilator/respiratory management, tracheostomy care, wound care, IV therapy, and telemetry experience Responsibilities Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for LTAC patients Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) Provide care for medically complex and long-term acute care patients, including ventilator-dependent patients when applicable Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientee staff Promote patient and employee safety by adhering to hospital safety protocols and standards Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care Initiate discharge planning and provide patient/family education from the day of admission Contribute to a positive team environment and assist with unit operations as needed Maintain professional growth through continuing education and self-study Why Apply Opportunity to advance your travel nursing career as an LTAC nurse in Des Moines, IA Work with a collaborative clinical team caring for medically complex patients Exposure to specialized LTAC skills (ventilator care, trach care, wound management) Apply now: Submit your resume or contact our travel nurse recruiter to learn more about this LTAC RN travel assignment in Des Moines, Iowa.
