The Principal Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing complex and often unstructured data, building and automating reports and dashboards from the ground up, and delivering clear, actionable insights to executive leadership. This role requires deep expertise in SQL, independent development of Power BI dashboards, and the ability to translate large data sets into meaningful business narratives. The Principal Data Analyst partners closely with the Data Services and cross-functional teams to support data creation, optimize data pipelines, and refine analytics in a fast-paced SaaS environment.Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Lead end-to-end analytical projects by writing advanced SQL queries from scratch to extract, transform, and analyze data. • Independently design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that support strategic and operational decision-making. • Analyze large, unorganized, and complex data sets to identify trends, risks, and business opportunities. • Partner with cross-functional teams to provide analytical support with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. • Conduct requirements gathering to ensure reports and analyses align with stakeholder needs and corporate KPI definitions. • Define, interpret, and recommend data-driven actions based on analytical findings. • Present data, insights, and Power BI dashboards to executive and senior leadership teams in a clear, compelling manner. • Ensure data is properly organized, documented, and structured to support current and future business requirements. • Research, analyze, and document methodologies, assumptions, and findings. • Prioritize analytical initiatives based on organizational needs, business impact, and timelines. • May coach, review, and/or delegate work to other team members as needed.
