Administrative Services Assistant Public Health Surveillance Hybrid | Nashville, TN | 1?Year Contract (3/9/26 3/9/27) We are seeking a detail?oriented Data Processing Specialist to support a statewide Viral Hepatitis Program within a major public health agency. This role is essential in maintaining accurate, high?quality surveillance data and supporting timely public health reporting. The specialist will work with the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) Based System (NBS), apply CDC/CSTE case definitions, and collaborate with program and surveillance staff to ensure data integrity. Key Responsibilities: Data Entry & Case Processing Process and enter hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) laboratory and case data in NBS Review and manage assigned surveillance and document?review queues Apply CDC/CSTE case definitions to determine case status Identify acute, reinfection, perinatal, infant, and fetal?death case types Data Quality & Validation Perform routine data cleaning and quality assurance Process paper, electronic, and orphaned laboratory reports Resolve data discrepancies and incomplete records Coordinate medical record requests as assigned Communication & Collaboration Report data issues and notable findings to team leadership Work collaboratively with program and surveillance teams to maintain data accuracy Participate in required meetings, trainings, and team activities Minimum Qualifications: Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Data entry or data systems experience preferred Medical or public health knowledge preferred Special Qualifications: Strong attention to detail when handling confidential health data Ability to follow detailed procedures and meet data?quality standards Effective communication and teamwork skills Proficiency with general computer applications and data systems Examination Method: Education and Experience, 100% Work Expectations: Work Format: Hybrid Location: Central Office in Nashville, TN Travel: Limited approximately 24 in?person meetings per year Contract Length: 1 year (3/9/26 3/9/27)
