Responsibilities Places orders promptly within established guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure timely receipt of materials and supplies. Recommend process improvements for the Purchasing Department in order to enhance effectiveness and improve productivity. Maintains sources of supply; investigates and suggests alternate products and sources of supply with the goal of reducing costs while maintaining product quality and acceptable lead times. Confers with internal customers to establish specifications for products and supplies which meet appropriate quality, competitive price and service levels. Confirm / update all required Purchase Order information based on PO Acknowledgments Work with SBU Product Managers, Inventory Procurement and Control Manager and the Operations Management to maintain adequate inventory levels. Manage needs of designated customers and coordinate procurement of items with other purchasing team members Complete all Safety and Environmental information requests (EX. Conflict Minerals) by customers as needed Collaborate with sales representatives in order to remain informed of changes in product, pricing and delivery; negotiating better pricing and delivery terms and working to reduce inventory. All this information is to be communicated to SBU Managers, Purchasing Manager and internal customers. Understand and assume the duties of other department members in their absence to ensure a continuous, consistent flow of product. Assist and Perform annual/semi-annual returns of products. Address and record receiving and invoicing issues to facilitate timely and proper payment of invoices. Qualifications Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's degree preferred Minimum of 5 years of industrial distribution buying experience. Must have a stable work history, no more than two jobs within the past three years. Critical Skills: Knowledge of purchasing principles, material management concepts, inventory control, and computerized purchasing. Negotiation skills Familiarity with spreadsheet programs (i.e., excel) Profit 21, Latitude Warehouse Management System Direct Reports: None Additional Responsibilities: As assigned Working Environment: Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing, walking, lifting (overhead, waist level), bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
