SEMO Tank (owned by Dairy Farmers of America) specializes in selling, leasing, and repairing tank trailers while maintaining a vast inventory of related parts for resale. General Purpose: The Tank Trailer Repair Technician is a skilled position focused on various types of tank trailer repairs, including mechanical repairs, welding, grinding, polishing, cutting, and fabricating operations. Key Responsibilities: Execute cutting, aligning, fitting, and welding tasks to repair or modify equipment as needed. Perform grinding and polishing operations to meet 3A standards. Accurately locate and mark workpiece cutting and bending lines, considering welding shrinkage, stock thickness, and specifications. Review and lay out metalwork pieces to ensure adherence to client specifications. Set up and operate various fabrication machines, including rolls, brakes, drill presses, grinders, and shears to perform cutting, forming, drilling, bending, and punching tasks. Conduct repairs on air brake and suspension systems. Inspect, diagnose, and perform preventative maintenance and repairs to meet company and DOT standards. Read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings. Participate in departmental training, including safety and equipment training. Handle and manipulate materials safely and efficiently. Employ physical strength and dexterity to fulfill job responsibilities. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and comply with health, safety, and environmental policies. Maintain an accurate record of materials used for inventory control. Document time spent and materials used on daily work sheets. Dispose of damaged materials properly. Label and store salvage parts for future use. Keep the work area safe, clean, and organized. Provide your own hand tools. Perform other duties as assigned that align with the general nature and responsibilities of the role. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Technical/vocational school graduation, apprenticeship, or relevant work experience preferred, with key experiences including: TIG and MIG welding. Welding experience with stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel. Mechanical assembly knowledge. General understanding of air-operated braking systems. Familiarity with air and spring suspension systems. Knowledge of ABS and diagnostics. No certifications or licenses are required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent communication skills. Team-oriented with the ability to follow instructions. Proficient in operating necessary tools and equipment. Basic welding skills in MIG, TIG, and stick welding. Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, procedural documents, and assembly diagrams. Independently perform tasks without constant oversight. Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a team. Ability to work in confined spaces. Physically capable of lifting over 70 lbs. Willingness to work overtime as required.
