Verizon Global Infrastructure is on the lookout for a hands-on Senior Engineer (Data Center Implementation Specialist) who will translate architectural designs into tangible reality. You will play a pivotal role as the technical lead for the implementation and configuration of network equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and optics, within our data center network zones. In this dynamic Fortune 50 environment, you will closely work with the Hempstead Lab team to validate hardware and conduct stress testing, ensuring the entire infrastructure—including Wi-Fi, Retail systems, Firewalls, Proxies, and Load Balancers—is optimized for production-scale traffic. Your Key Responsibilities: Lead Network Implementation & Design: Drive the deployment of routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring configurations adhere to Low Level Design (LLD) standards. Automate & Modernize: Collaborate with automation teams to deploy configurations via code, ensuring operational efficiency. Hardware Validation & Strategy: Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for high-speed connectivity, utilizing tools like Spirent for performance evaluation. Oversee Data Center Operations: Provide technical guidance for data center expansions, ensuring site readiness and effective management of network setups. Mentor & Train: Direct and mentor technical teams, ensuring meticulous planning to minimize disruption in enterprise operations. What We Are Looking For: Bachelor's degree or four or more years of relevant work experience. At least four years of demonstrated experience in enterprise network implementation and data center operations. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in large-scale enterprise environments, with a focus on cloud security and networking. Proficiency in interpreting Low Level Design (LLD) into physical setups. Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their integration with physical data center infrastructure. Expertise in high-speed switching, routing, and optics (e.g., 100G/400G). Hands-on familiarity with next-gen firewalls, proxies, VPNs, and load balancers. Experience in developing and testing new technologies. Knowledge of security standards, including NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS benchmarks. Exceptional communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders. Analytical and problem-solving mindset, adaptable to a fast-paced environment. Working Environment: This hybrid role involves working a minimum of three days a week in the office, with remote work options defined by your manager. Compliance with hybrid work policies is expected. Compensation and Benefits: Our comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, and vision options; retirement savings plans; holiday and personal days; parental leave; and various other incentives.
