Your attendance at these events is expected and supported by the company. We are in search of a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead our Data Solutions team within the Platform Product Group. The Platform Product Group is dedicated to establishing a reliable, scalable, and compliant infrastructure. Our mission centers on enhancing velocity, efficiency, and quality by developing foundational elements that are utilized across various products and teams at Coinbase, guaranteeing a consistent, high-quality experience for our users. Key Responsibilities: Build and manage exceptional engineering teams to drive the development of transformative features, services, and infrastructure. Coach and mentor your team members to influence the organization positively and promote their professional development. Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate our vision into a clearly defined quarterly roadmap. Break down intricate projects into manageable tasks and guide iterative design and implementation processes. Act as a knowledgeable technical advisor within the team, contributing to vital architectural decisions while fostering a culture of high-quality code and refined engineering practices. Partner with Product and Engineering teams to guarantee successful delivery and operation of distributed systems at scale. Work alongside our talent acquisition team to identify and recruit outstanding engineers who align with Coinbase's culture and enhance our product offerings. Take ownership of processes that improve engineering quality and align with our engineering SLAs. What We Seek in You: 9+ years of experience managing critical datastore infrastructure with a focus on high transactional throughput, production reliability, migration, and technological advancement. Proven expertise in architecting and scaling databases, including partitioning, sharding, distributed databases, caching, and router/proxy management. Hands-on experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, including engines like Postgres, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, and ElasticSearch. Real-world experience in designing scale-out infrastructure and troubleshooting performance and reliability issues in distributed environments. Demonstrated leadership in enhancing developer experience and velocity while implementing standards through self-service tools. Experience managing infrastructure budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships to drive efficiency, optimization, and strategic growth. Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts and guidelines to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability to build and nurture multiple sub-teams with a compelling vision and a practical approach to dependencies and priorities. Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual base salary for this position ranges between $253,895 and $298,700 USD, depending on your work location. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility, equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
