Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/30/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Mar 30, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 2 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU/PCU Float position in an acute care hospital setting, requiring critical care experience and the ability to titrate vasoactive drips. Details Acute care hospital setting with floating between two critical care (ICU) and stepdown (PCU) units, with occasional floating to other departments ICU has 24 beds; PCU has 26 beds Patient population includes post-CABG/PCI cardiac patients, sepsis, DKA, and respiratory failure ICU nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1 (up to 3:1 depending on acuity); PCU ratio is 4:1 RNs are required to titrate drips including Levophed, amiodarone, heparin, Precedex, propofol, Cardene, nitro, Neo-Synephrine, dopamine, and others Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 with equipment including vents, BiPAP, and Airvo Bedside monitoring with a monitor bank at the charge desk and a Monitor Tech on site Charge nurse on the floor and a house supervisor on every shift Intensivist in house during day shift; hospitalists available around the clock Nurse aides are not typically assigned in the ICU; PCU has 1–2 aides per shift Charting system: Paragon 13-week contract Night shift, 12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:00 AM) Every other weekend required; holiday coverage depends on scheduling needs No on-call or standby requirement Requirements Active TX RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted Minimum 3 years of RN experience required Critical care (ICU) experience required Experience titrating vasoactive and sedation drips required Driver's license required for consideration 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Additional Information Float between ICU and PCU units, with occasional assignments to other departments as needed Orientation includes a new employee orientation in the first week, plus an orientation shift on each the ICU and PCU units Navy blue scrubs required Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered American Traveler Job ID #P-680309.
