Vehicle Detail Specialist

Location: 16749 Weir Creek Blvd, West Point, Virginia, 23181 Temporary address: 16931 Eltham Rd., Barhamsville, VA 23181 Overview: In this role, you'll play a vital part in the cosmetic inspections and detailing of both new and used vehicles at CarMax. Under general supervision, you will be responsible for vehicle cleaning, paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing to ensure our cars meet CarMax's high standards. You will also assist with a wide range of reconditioning tasks including inventory scanning, vehicle movement, and maintaining impeccable cleanliness on our lot. Key Responsibilities: Execute standardized work processes efficiently and effectively. Engage in problem-solving and continuous improvement with your team. Help train new associates under the guidance of the Reconditioning Associate Lead. Perform cosmetic repairs including paint touch-ups, wet sanding, and buffing. Conduct thorough cosmetic and final quality inspections of vehicles. Maintain workplace organization and cleanliness in line with CarMax 5S standards. Identify vehicle defects and recommend appropriate repair methods. Assist in providing auction support as needed. Safely drive vehicles on and off the lot. Deliver exceptional customer service consistently. Complete any additional duties assigned by Leads or Managers. Qualifications: Complete all required training, including onboarding and KRONOS training. Meet performance standards as a Reconditioning Associate and I. Achieve required certifications for workstations. Ability to read and maintain accurate records. Perform in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with various tasks. Lifting ability for objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Effective communication skills with customers and associates, both in-person and over the phone. Willingness to be trained in all aspects of the inventory process for cross-training opportunities. Working Environment: Work in both indoor and outdoor settings, potentially in noisy or inclement weather. Capable of walking or standing for extended periods. Wear CarMax-provided uniforms at all times while on duty. Comply with safety standards, including those from O.S.H.A. and the EPA. Adhere to all CarMax guidelines regarding attendance, integrity, and appearance.
