Current Incentives: Newly appointed Agents can benefit from a significant recruitment incentive of up to $20,000, with an additional retention incentive of up to $40,000 over the first four years. Salary and Benefits: Base Salary: GL-9/GS-11, ranging from $63,148 to $120,145 per year Locality Pay: Varies based on duty location Overtime Pay: Up to 25% Promotional opportunities with a clear career ladder from GL-9 to GS-12 Comprehensive federal benefits package, including health insurance and retirement plans Duty Locations: Flexibility in duty assignments is necessary, with potential placements available across the Southwest Border including various mission-critical locations. Duties and Responsibilities: As a BPA, your role will include: Detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws. Preventing and apprehending unlawful entries and smuggling attempts. Conducting various patrol duties using government assets like vehicles and aircraft. Analyzing physical evidence and tracking illegal activities. Qualifications: For GL-9: One year of specialized experience in law enforcement activities such as conducting searches, apprehending violators, and preparing investigative reports. For GS-11: One year of experience at the GL-9 level (or equivalent) with a focus on surveillance, investigation, and apprehending violators. Eligibility Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen, with a minimum of three years of primary U.S. residency. Candidates must be under 40 years old unless currently serving or previously served in a federal law enforcement capacity. Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish are required.
