This critical position will focus on introducing groundbreaking intravitreally delivered genetic therapies to combat irreversible blindness. In this role, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership while ensuring medical oversight of clinical studies. Your responsibilities will include monitoring patient safety, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring strict adherence to protocols. You will design and execute clinical trials, and prepare essential clinical documents for regulatory submissions. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is key, as is effectively representing the company in engagements with potential collaborators and stakeholders within the ophthalmic and biotech sectors. Ideal candidates will hold an M.D. degree, possess clinical training in ophthalmology, and have a minimum of 10 years of biopharma industry experience in drug development, particularly in Phase 3 clinical trials targeting retinal diseases. We seek a candidate with a proven record in leading successful clinical trials, expertise in global regulatory interactions, and a robust understanding of the ophthalmic competitive landscape, especially concerning the retina. A background in gene therapy is highly desirable, alongside experience with NDA, BLA, or MAA submissions and successful engagements with regulatory authorities. Strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and strategic planning abilities are essential, along with the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
