This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of Team USADA during a critical period leading up to the 2026 Milan Olympic and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Your contribution will be pivotal in supporting clean athletes and ensuring integrity in the sporting community. REPORTS TO: DC Ops Manager & Assistant Manager | FLSA: Non-Exempt SUPERVISES: N/A | Anticipated # of Tests/Year: 40-50 tests annually Location: Candidates must reside within 50 miles of our offices in Colorado Springs. The successful candidate must hold a valid and current phlebotomy certification that aligns with USADA's criteria. We welcome individuals with relevant training and experience to discuss transferring their credentials through the American Certification Agency (ACA). JOB SUMMARY: As a Doping Control Specialist, you will collect samples from athletes, ensuring that all protocols for doping control are rigorously followed. Collaborating with the Doping Control Operations team, you will facilitate sample collection at events and in out-of-competition settings. Your role is crucial in upholding USADA's mission, requiring travel both locally and nationally to conduct various doping control assignments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct sample collection sessions for Olympic, Paralympic, and Client Services testing teams and additional partners. Manage doping control assignments while adhering to all WADA and USADA standards. Ensure logistical arrangements support the successful completion of collection missions. Follow established protocols for processing samples and documentation. Recruit and onboard chaperones for athlete sample collection as needed. Efficiently travel to various locations for sample collection. Accurately document the doping control process. Submit processed samples to WADA-certified laboratories. Assist in training new doping control officers. Participate in ongoing education and re-accreditation programs. Manage travel schedules and related expenses. Provide legal testimony in cases of anti-doping rule violations. Adhere to infection control protocols at all times. GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role. Avoid affiliations with external sample collection organizations. Keep USADA informed about any field issues or conflicts of interest. Propose updates to Doping Control protocols as necessary. May perform additional duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. Proficient in using technology, including tablets and various software applications. Demonstrated ability to: Make decisions based on USADA protocols. Manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure. Engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders. Travel on short notice for testing assignments. Work flexible hours as required. Effectively integrate into a team environment. Meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision. Physically perform duties, including standing, bending, and lifting 50 pounds regularly. Certifications: Complete all USADA certification/recertification requirements. Pass written and practical examinations every six months. Attend mandatory DCO training sessions and conferences. Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing. Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. DCO II Additional Requirements: National Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency, including ACA, AMT, ASCP, NHA, or NCCT/MMCI. Compliance with state-specific phlebotomy training requirements. A minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience is preferred. Additional Certifications: Obtain SafeSport Certification (post-offer). DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in Allied Health Professions with relevant certifications (e.g., Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist, Registered Nurse). COMPENSATION & TIME COMMITMENT: Compensation ranges from $130 to $180 per test for out-of-competition missions (typically lasting 1 to 2 hours). In-competition testing is paid at a daily rate of approximately $250. Initial onboarding will begin in March with a commitment of 24-30 hours within the first 60 days, followed by 2-3 hours of training and updates quarterly.
