About the Team You will lead a dynamic and distributed team of SRE and DevOps engineers within our Digital Operations and Infrastructure Technology organization. This team plays a crucial role in supporting our mission-critical applications across both Government Intellectual Property (IP) and commercial divisions, driving advancements in reliability, automation, and observability. About the Role The Platform Engineering and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Manager will be instrumental in evolving our global infrastructure reliability strategy. You will blend strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise to create secure, scalable, and resilient systems that support our Government IP and commercial sectors. Conditions of Employment: You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position. This is a hybrid position; you are required to report to one of the following locations: Horsham, PA, Washington, DC (Alexandria, VA), or Raleigh, NC. REQUIREMENTS A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred). Significant experience as a Senior SRE, platform engineer, or DevOps leader, with a proven record in a global leadership role. Demonstrated ability to lead distributed technical teams and align cross-functional stakeholders effectively. Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as Azure and/or AWS, along with Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD tools. Solid background in observability, automation, incident management, and service reliability. Experience with AI/ML infrastructure (Databricks, MLflow, MLOps). Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform (including modules, workspaces, and policies), Ansible, and Azure ARM/BICEP/HCL. Familiarity with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm. Expertise in monitoring and observability tools like Datadog, Splunk, CloudWatch, and Azure Monitor. Strong automation and scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, PowerShell, or TypeScript. Adept in security and networking, specifically with Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault, and cloud security practices. Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, .NET/C#, SQL, or React environments. An empathetic and motivational leader who focuses on developing technical talent and fostering collaboration. Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders. A strong commitment to transparency, a reliability culture, and continuous improvement. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of FinOps, multi-cloud environments, or large-scale inference systems. Understanding frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, and NCSC. Insights into data governance, privacy, or AI model compliance. Responsibilities Recruit, mentor, and guide a high-performing, globally distributed team of SRE and DevOps engineers. Cultivate a culture of reliability that values blameless postmortems and prioritizes continuous improvement. Build and sustain a global SRE community, ensuring consistency in reliability standards across business units. Drive cross-functional initiatives to influence engineering practices across the enterprise. Define and implement SRE best practices aimed at enhancing reliability, scalability, and performance. Establish and monitor key performance indicators such as uptime, MTTR, and SLO/SLI compliance. Act as a key escalation point for major incidents, facilitating swift resolutions and detailed post-incident reviews. Collaborate closely with Product, Cloud Infrastructure, Security, and Architecture teams to align with enterprise objectives. Work with Cloud Engineering and Architecture to develop robust monitoring and observability systems. Lead modernization efforts around cloud migrations, Infrastructure as Code automation, and CI/CD pipeline enhancements. Promote cost efficiency and governance within the cloud (FinOps). Ensure compliance with standards like ISO 27001 and NIST 800-53. Define and implement SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs for AI/ML pipelines and APIs. Partner with AI/ML and Cloud teams to bolster the reliability and performance of AI workloads. Oversee reliability engineering for MLOps, encompassing orchestration, IaC, monitoring, and automated scaling. Champion security, compliance, and fault tolerance across AI platforms. Provide clear direction, feedback, and opportunities for professional growth for your team members.
