Join Our Dynamic Team Your Role As a Senior Software Engineer - Automation Development at GM, you will be instrumental in crafting, building, and managing sophisticated software frameworks and developer tools that improve software development, integration, and validation for our vehicle systems. This position focuses on developing robust platforms, libraries, and pipelines that teams all over the globe use to accelerate delivery and boost software quality. You will work closely with engineering teams from various business units, transforming their needs into production-ready software solutions. This role presents significant opportunities for technical leadership, architectural contributions, and mentorship, enabling you to make a substantial impact on GM's software landscape. Your Responsibilities Design and develop scalable Python-based frameworks and libraries that create a global productivity ecosystem for automation and developers. Take full ownership of software features and initiatives from requirements gathering through design, implementation, and ongoing support. Build and ensure the maintenance of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure to deliver reliable and repeatable software outputs. Contribute to the system and framework architecture to guarantee solutions remain extensible, maintainable, and high-performing. Engage in code reviews to uphold high engineering quality, design integrity, and best practices. Act as a technical mentor, guiding the professional growth and development of fellow engineers on the team. Work within an Agile/Scrum framework, participating in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives. Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends in software engineering, automation platforms, and developer tools. Your Skills and Qualifications (Required) 5+ years of software development experience in various programming languages, including Python, Java, C++, C#, Groovy, and Scala. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Hands-on experience in creating automation software solutions, with knowledge of multiple open-source and commercial automation tools. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively across teams. What Sets You Apart (Preferred Qualifications) Familiarity with Vehicle Electrical Architecture and vehicle subsystems/features. Advanced degree in engineering or management/leadership. Experience in building or enhancing automation frameworks such as Robot and creating reusable components within them. 3+ years of experience in Automotive Software Development or Testing, including insights into software or test architecture. Prior involvement in a software development team utilizing Agile/Scrum methodologies. Salary and Benefits Information: The salary range for this position is $134,000 to $241,900. Actual compensation will depend on qualifications and experience. Please note, this position is remote, but selected candidates living within a specific radius of a GM hub may need to report to the location three times a week or as determined by management. This position does not offer relocation benefits. Any relocation costs will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
