Barhamsville, VA 23181 General Summary: Join our dynamic team at CarMax as a Car Detailing Associate where you will play a key role in ensuring our vehicles look their best. You'll be responsible for conducting cosmetic inspections, performing final quality checks, and executing thorough vehicle cleaning, paint touch-ups, wet sanding, and buffing in line with CarMax standards. Key Responsibilities: Execute standardized work processes efficiently and effectively Engage in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities with the team Assist in training new associates under the guidance of the Reconditioning Associate Lead Perform various cosmetic reconditioning and cleaning tasks, such as paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing Conduct Cosmetic Inspections to ensure all vehicles meet quality standards Perform Final Quality Inspections for all serviced vehicles Maintain a clean and organized workplace following CarMax 5S standards Recognize defects and apply appropriate repair methods Support auction activities as needed Safely drive vehicles on and off the lot Provide exceptional customer service consistently Complete other duties as assigned by Leads and Managers Job Specifications: Complete all required online and hands-on training, including KRONOS Training for Hourly Associates Meet the qualifications outlined in the Associate 1 Competency Model Achieve performance standards for Reconditioning Associate and Reconditioning I roles Successfully complete workstation certifications for Reconditioning Associate, Associate I and II Accurately read, interpret, and transcribe data for record-keeping Thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment while performing multiple duties Handle lifting tasks up to 50lbs Communicate effectively in person and over the phone with customers and associates Complete provided training across all functional areas of the inventory process for cross-training opportunities Working Conditions: Work in both indoor and outdoor environments; be prepared for occasional noisy and/or inclement weather conditions Stand or walk for extended periods Wear CarMax clothing at all times while on duty Adhere to all CarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA standards including Personal Protective Equipment use and proper waste disposal Comply with all CarMax policies, including Attendance, Asset Protection, Integrity, and Professional Appearance standards About CarMax CarMax has transformed the auto industry by delivering a transparent and high-integrity customer experience.
