Join our compassionate team and help prioritize health! The Full Stack Software Engineer II is crucial for designing, developing, and maintaining robust web applications. Utilizing React.js on the frontend and Java Spring Boot on the backend, this role works closely with product, UX, and platform teams to deliver secure, high-quality, and performant solutions. The engineer will contribute to API development, UI components, and cloud-enabled microservices while following engineering best practices. This position supports ongoing modernization, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is remote; however, candidates must be available to work during Eastern Standard Time or Central Standard Time. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Node.js and Java/Spring Boot; document with Swagger and perform testing with Postman. Create event-driven services using Apache Kafka for consumers and producers. Provide clearly defined microservices with domain boundaries, manage API versioning, and ensure backward compatibility. Deliver accessible, efficient user interfaces using React and Next.js (SSR/SSG, routing, caching); employ hooks and effective state management. Build reusable frontend components and maintainable styles with CSS/SCSS. Integrate frontend applications with GraphQL clients and Content Management Systems such as Adobe Experience Manager. Deploy solutions in Azure/GCP, focusing on observability (logs, metrics, traces), using feature flags, and managing secrets and configuration securely. Collaborate with security teams on VITS remediation, perform dependency vulnerability scanning, and uphold OWASP best practices. Commit to engineering excellence through unit/integration/contract testing (JUnit, Mockito, Jest), performance profiling, and maintaining SonarQube quality standards. Model and query data across PostgreSQL and NoSQL; oversee schema evolution, migrations, and performance tuning. Required Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of experience in software engineering, specifically in creating production services in Node.js, with advanced design patterns, performance tuning, and memory profiling. At least 3 years of expertise in React/Next.js, including SSR, routing, caching, and familiarity with AEM integration. Strong proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, GraphQL, REST, and hands-on experience with Kafka and microservices in containerized environments for 3+ years. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with PostgreSQL and at least one NoSQL database. Familiarity with Azure/GCP and modern CI/CD pipelines; comfortable using Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge of security practices including collaboration on VITS or similar vulnerability/cyber remediation and secure SDLC. Experience working in healthcare or regulated environments, with knowledge of privacy, compliance, and PHI data handling. Additional Information: Home Office Internet Requirements: To ensure effective work from home, employees must have a self-provided internet service meeting the following criteria: a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps is essential; a wired cable or DSL connection is recommended. Employees residing and working from Home in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will receive bi-weekly payments for internet expenses. Travel: This position is remote but may require occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Compensation: The posted pay range reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time employment (40 hours weekly). Compensation may vary based on geographic location and individual qualifications, with base pay ranging from $80,900 to $110,300 annually.
