The Risk Platform Team is crucial in driving business growth by managing financial risks effectively. We focus on building scalable systems to detect and prevent fraud with workflows that adapt in real-time. What you'll be doing (key responsibilities): Lead and implement a multi-year strategy for Payments Risk engineering, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Machine Learning Engineers, Machine Learning Product, and Risk Analysts. Guide and mentor your engineering team, promoting meaningful contributions and supporting their professional development. Provide technical leadership, ensuring sound architectural choices and adherence to engineering quality standards. Work alongside engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to convert vision into actionable quarterly roadmaps. Collaborate with recruitment teams to attract and hire top-tier engineering talent to enrich Coinbase's culture and product offerings. Cultivate a positive and inclusive team environment that aligns with Coinbase's values, ensuring all voices are heard and valued. What we’re looking for (qualifications): Minimum of 7 years in software engineering, with at least 2 years in an engineering management role. Experience in Risk, Machine Learning, or Payments domains for a minimum of 1 year. A strong understanding of high-quality code and effective software engineering processes. A results-driven mindset capable of navigating ambiguity and delivering outcomes. A balance of long-term strategic vision with effective short-term planning. Experience in developing and managing multi-tenant, distributed systems at scale. A hands-on approach as needed, including coding, technical documentation, incident management, and bug troubleshooting. A deep-rooted passion for creating an open financial system that connects people globally. Nice to haves: Experience building financial, high reliability, or security systems. Full-time offers also include eligibility for bonuses, equity, and benefits like medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
