Position Purpose: As a food and food service delivery driver, you play a vital role in our nation’s food supply chain. Your responsibility goes beyond ensuring timely and safe delivery of products; you are the face of our company, building lasting relationships with our customers. As a driver, you will operate a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local and interstate routes, performing deliveries and unloading food and related products in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Primary Responsibilities: Engage with customers, vendors, and coworkers in a professional manner, providing accurate information promptly. Work collaboratively within the team and undertake any duties that enhance the company’s mission. Conduct thorough safety checks, including pre/post-trip inspections of the vehicle and trailer, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. Report any safety issues or necessary vehicle repairs immediately. Adhere to all DOT regulations and corporate driving safety guidelines. Inspect the trailer to confirm proper loading and secure freight. Perform item count checks and verify customer invoices upon loading. Complete all requisite paperwork legibly and accurately. Move the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as needed. Deliver customer orders following a predetermined schedule. Unloading products, transporting them to designated customer storage areas. Check for damage, scan items, and report orders according to company policy. Confirm delivery with customers and obtain necessary signatures. Collect payments (cash or checks) as needed, securing returned items in the truck. Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are secure at all times. Handle damaged goods and returns, completing necessary paperwork. Maintain a daily record of service hours and comply with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations. Perform housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area, keeping trailers clear and clean. Secure all equipment at the end of the shift and ensure all paperwork is completed. Carry out other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent 12+ months of commercial driving experience Valid CDL-A Must be at least 21 years old Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (if applicable) Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check Pass a road test Possess or obtain a valid DOT Health Card Able to lift and handle products weighing between 10-90 pounds with assistance of equipment as necessary.
