Key Responsibilities: Lead engineering teams dedicated to developing essential systems for institutional products that shape the crypto sphere. Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn our vision into a concrete roadmap. Deconstruct complex projects into smaller, manageable tasks and guide the iterative design and implementation process. Serve as a knowledgeable technical voice within the team, making thoughtful architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high quality and operational excellence. Work with Product and Engineering teams to ensure the successful delivery and operation of complex, distributed systems at scale. Mentor direct reports, positively impacting the organization and supporting their career growth. Partner closely with our talent acquisition team to identify and recruit outstanding engineers who embody Coinbase's culture and contribute to our product advancements. Take ownership of processes that enhance engineering quality and align with our engineering service level agreements (SLAs). What We’re Looking For: Minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering. At least 1 year in an engineering management role. Strong ability to balance strategic long-term thinking with practical short-term planning. Experience in creating, delivering, and managing multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale. Capable of being hands-on when necessary, which may include code writing/reviewing, contributing to technical documentation, participating in on-call rotations, and resolving bugs. Drive stemming from a passion for building an inclusive financial system that unites the world. Preferred Qualifications: Experience during a significant growth phase of a company (e.g., expanding from 10 to hundreds of engineers). Familiarity with blockchain technologies (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum). Proficiency in Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres. Background in building financial, high-reliability, or security systems. Experience with crypto initiatives, including understanding on-chain activities such as Ethereum address interactions, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services. Job ID# P72250 Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual base salary range for this position, depending on your work location, is $218,025 - $256,500 USD. Full-time offers from Coinbase include eligibility for bonuses and equity, as well as benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
