Position Summary: The Authorization and Eligibility Specialist plays a vital role in managing patient authorization requests for private insurance in the Home Health & Hospice sector. You will actively communicate with staff about authorization timelines, ensure compliance with insurance guidelines, and follow up diligently on pending authorizations. While experience with HCHB is a plus, it is not mandatory. A background in home health or hospice care is advantageous, but not a strict requirement. Schedule: Full-time (Remote) 8 am to 5 pm (Some weekends on call) Pay: $18 to $21 per hour We offer our team the best: Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits Continued Education PTO Plan Retirement Planning Life Insurance Employee discounts Essential Duties: Track and manage all authorizations for private insurance patients. Work on process enhancements to improve the authorization workflow and relationships with providers under the guidance of the Billing Manager. Provide clear and accurate information regarding authorizations to staff. Work proactively to minimize denied authorizations. Schedule authorizations promptly upon receipt. Weekly entry of staff schedules for private pay clients. Conduct monthly verification of insurance eligibility for clients. Produce reports on unauthorized visits monthly. Maintain a consistent work schedule with excellent punctuality and attendance. Follow the established dress code. Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Position Requirements & Competencies: Preference for candidates with insurance experience, including running/readings for eligibility and requesting authorizations. Familiarity with HCHB preferred. Prior home health and hospice experience is required. Knowledge of medical terminology and general medical background. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Dependable, tactful, and able to follow directions. Proficient in managing multiple deadlines effectively. Advanced computer proficiency is essential. Exceptional customer service skills are a must. Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word.
