We are seeking an hourly, as-needed contract professional to support the day-to-day administration of payroll, benefits, and employment records for the organization. Working closely with the People, Finance, and Accounting teams, this role ensures payroll accuracy, timely benefits administration, and compliance with applicable employment and wage regulations. The position provides operational support across the employee and contractor lifecycle, responds to payroll and benefits inquiries, maintains accurate HR and payroll records, and assists with audits, renewals, and other compliance activities. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented HR or payroll professional who can step in as needed to provide reliable, compliant support. Rate: $35/hour Time Commitment: Up to 30hours per week On-site Expectation: Minimum three days per week in office Manage payroll for the organization Provide information and answer questions about payroll related matters to our team Manage employment agreement updates and changes in coordination with the rest of the People team Update payroll records by entering any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title changes, exemptions, and deductions Resolve payroll errors within ADP Work with our Finance & Accounting team to ensure proper communication and coordination regarding payroll changes Create employment agreements in coordination with the Chief of People for new hires Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately Oversee the implementation of the educational incentive pay program Administer benefits This includes enrollment, updates, changes, and terminations for health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), flexible spending accounts, 401k, life insurance, Smartbenefits, etc. Reconcile benefit accounts with payroll (Smartbenefits, FSA, etc.) Create new employees in the accounting system (Costpoint) Lead training for new hires on our benefits offerings and assist with enrollment questions Complete renewal information for benefits Manage the independent contractor process Oversee the entire contractor management process with Finance & Accounting, including hiring, background checks and onboarding paperwork, ensuring compliance, and keeping records up to date Manage signatures on contractor documents, and assist with other signature needs as they arise Compile comparability statistics Gather data on other relevant organizations and their pay and benefits Support the HR Manager with other people management tasks Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management Deal with employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations Support compliance and safety needs for the organization Ensure compliance with wage & overtime laws Ensure necessary compliance procedures and policies are in place and observed Manage state and local tax registration and processes, including in ADP Coordinate office safety processes (e.g. fire drills, health emergencies) Other duties as assigned
