Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Senior Casting Tooling Engineer specializing in high-precision aerospace investment castings. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the assessment, development, and enhancement of tooling suppliers, ensuring they meet the stringent standards of the aerospace industry. Key Responsibilities Identify and cultivate tooling suppliers capable of meeting aerospace-grade requirements. Evaluate and develop new tooling suppliers through capability assessments and roadmap creation. Conduct supplier audits, tooling health reviews, and technical assessments to ensure quality and reliability. Implement supplier improvement initiatives, encompassing technical coaching and tooling process enhancements. Carry out tooling design verification and manufacturability reviews proactively. Translate engineering drawings and specifications into effective production-ready tooling. Provide hands-on technical mentorship to enhance supplier capabilities. Establish and maintain tooling cost models to drive effective budgeting. Conduct comparative benchmarking and support negotiations with data-driven insights. Track and report key performance metrics for tooling suppliers. Lead initiatives to address corrective actions with suppliers and internal teams. Support tool qualification, trials, and relevant quality processes. Collaborate closely with Design Engineering, Quality, NPI, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to align tooling objectives. Drive continuous improvement efforts across tooling processes. Assist in 3D CAD modeling and validation of supplier tooling to ensure compliance with product requirements. Create and maintain standard operating procedures, guides, and best practices for tooling development. Serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues, fostering a collaborative work environment. Qualifications Minimum of 6 years of experience in tooling design, manufacturing, or supplier development within precision tooling fields (investment casting, injection molding, or equivalent). Proficiency in 3D CAD software (such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX) for tooling model evaluation. Excellent communication skills to convey technical information clearly and foster collaboration. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; self-motivated and organized. Hands-on expertise in tool design and manufacturing with the capacity to coach others. Preferred Experience Over 12 years of experience in aerospace-grade investment casting tooling. Demonstrated success in developing and qualifying tooling suppliers, including conducting capability assessments. Experience with tooling cost modeling and should-cost analysis for informed decision-making. Background in investment casting engineering. Expert knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis. A collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively with toolmakers and management alike. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. A passion for working in a technical, supplier-focused setting. The base pay range for this role is $111,700 - $148,800 annually, with potential eligibility for an annual bonus based on individual performance.
