Join American Pool as a seasonal Swimming Monitor and become part of our dedicated team! In this role, you will be crucial in creating a secure and inviting pool atmosphere through vigilant oversight, proactive accident prevention, and exceptional guest service. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee pool areas to guarantee patron safety and proactively prevent accidents. Implement and enforce pool regulations to uphold a safe swimming environment. Swiftly recognize and respond to emergencies, performing rescues, administering first aid, CPR/AED, and executing Emergency Action Plans (EAP). Maintain all required certifications and engage in ongoing training. Conduct inspections of pool facilities and equipment, promptly reporting any safety concerns. Compile necessary documentation for incidents, rescues, inspections, and water/chemical testing. Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the pool and deck, and perform water testing/chemical monitoring as directed. Deliver friendly and professional customer service to all patrons and guests. Guide swimmers during bad weather or hazardous conditions. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols; wear the required uniform. Perform additional duties as assigned to aid facility operations. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Meet the minimum age requirements for lifeguards per applicable laws (typically 15-16+). Hold a current Lifeguard certification (American Red Cross or equivalent), CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. Maintain alertness and continuously monitor the pool environment. Physically capable of performing rescues and assisting distressed individuals (up to 85+ lbs), swim, climb, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for extended periods. Quickly respond in emergencies, including short-distance running and executing water rescues. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (sun, heat, rain, etc.). Stay calm under pressure, equipped with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Previous customer service or pool experience is preferred but not mandatory. SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS Flexible availability is essential, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and potential overtime based on business needs. Weekend and holiday shifts during the summer season are required. Availability during key summer holidays and their adjacent weekends, including Memorial Day Weekend, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, and Labor Day Weekend, is essential.
